Vettel recently ended his 15-year long racing career. In that time, he was able to become a four-time World Champion with Red Bull from 2010 to 2013. After that, he raced for Ferrari and then Aston Martin but was not quite as successful, only receiving one podium at the 2021 Baku race.
Aston found a big improvement in their performance this year, but Vettel isn’t here to see it after he put two seasons of hard work into helping the team become better. His replacement Fernando Alonso even won three races in a row! Team boss Krack said Vettel had some part in the success so far.
Mike Krack, the Team Principal of Aston Martin F1 Team, said that a person has had an important role in where the car is today. Last year they held lots of meetings and he gave suggestions on what to do, or not to do. So because of him, the car is where it is right now.
When asked if Sebastian Vettel retired too soon, Krack said that we should respect his decision. He thought about it for a while before doing it and we should ask him if it was a shame for him to retire when he did.

When Alonso was asked the same question, he smiled slyly: “I’m not sure if he could have made Aston Martin as fast as it was, so who knows!”
After the first three races of the championship, Alonso is in third place and his team-mate Stroll is sixth. The Silverstone team have earned second place in the constructor’s championship and are currently nine points ahead of Mercedes.
