Nashville Gets New Circuit Design, Will Host 2024 IndyCar Season Finale

by admin

In 2021, Nashville was added to the IndyCar schedule, hosting a race with an 11-turn course mainly around Nissan Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans. The layout included only a brief detour across the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge into downtown.

Starting from 2024, a revamped 2.17-mile track with seven turns will be built. While the track will still encompass the famed bridge section, it will also stretch into the legendary Honky-Tonk Row in the downtown core.

The racecourse will guide the cars past the Country Music Hall of Fame and traverse an entertainment district populated by bars belonging to some of country music’s top stars, such as Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Garth Brooks, Eric Church, Alan Jackson, Miranda Lambert, John Rich, and Blake Shelton.

Mark Miles, president and CEO of Penske Entertainment Corp., shared, “The Big Machine Music City Grand Prix team in Nashville are prepared to host an unforgettable, adrenaline-filled event that not only concludes the NTT IndyCar Series season but propels it onto a higher level of global recognition.”

He added, “Next year’s Nashville race will be a full-throttle celebration of the world’s most intense and competitive motorsport, taking place against the backdrop of a state-of-the-art, stunning setting that includes one of the world’s top entertainment districts. We’ll soon provide more details about a full weekend of events, both trackside and elsewhere, fully exploiting the rising influence and relevance of a burgeoning, marquee city.”

IndyCar also confirmed Nashville will host the season finale from 13-15 September, taking over from Laguna Seca. The California racetrack is likely to change its date to earlier in the season, potentially following the St Petersburg season opener.

Miles further stated, “WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca continues to be a fan-favorite, historic location for our teams, drivers, and fans in a vital and picturesque market.”

The awards ceremony for the 2024 season – the 2024 IndyCar Victory Lap Celebration – will be held at Nashville’s renowned Schermerhorn Symphony Center on 16 September.

Matt Crews, CEO of the event, expressed, “INDYCAR’s decision to select Nashville and the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix for the climactic event is a testament to our fans, partners, stakeholders, and indeed the entire Nashville hospitality industry.”

He added, “It’s a true privilege to promote our city and state all year round and bring our race to the center of Nashville. The Big Machine Music City Grand Prix continues to reach heights I never imagined possible.”
