Tragic Loss as 18-Year-Old Dilano van ‘t Hoff Perishes in Formula Regional Accident at Spa
The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA) announced the demise of 18-year-old MP F1 Flow driver, Dilano van ‘t Hoff, over two and a half hours post the completion of the second single-seater race at the Spa 24 Hours segment of the GT World Endurance Challenge. The race was prematurely concluded with a red flag.
While the specifics of the fatal incident remained undisclosed in FRECA’s brief statement, it was known that the incident happened during the eighth round of the 2023 series that was brought to a halt amid wet and deteriorating conditions, in what was supposed to be the last lap.
Tim Tramnitz, running in the second position, losing control of his Tatuus-Renault FR-19 single-seater at the top of Raidillon triggered a multi-car collision right after the safety car had been dispatched before the final lap. Caught in the initial accident’s confusion, van ‘t Hoff apparently lost control of his car, leading to a high-speed collision with a competing car while stationed mid-straight.

Adam Fitzgerald, another driver involved in the accident, is reportedly stable in the hospital, as stated by his Race Performance F1 Flow team.
Van ‘t Hoff initiated his car racing career in the Formula 4 UAE Championship in 2021, and later clinched the Spanish F4 title the same year with MP. He spent most of the previous year’s FRECA series with the Dutch team, with his sole podium finish coming at Barcelona in October. His best outcome this year was a seventh-place finish at the series’ inaugural weekend at Imola in April.
Andrea Antonelli, a Prema driver, emerged victorious in the second race at Spa, with Tramnitz securing the second place based on count back.
